Boys And Girls Club Of Oklahoma Co. Warns Of Door-To-Door Scammers

The Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County says scammers are going door to door selling candy claiming to be with their organization.

The club says this isn't the first time something like this has happened. They say a similar door to door selling scam went on just six years ago and is now back in the metro.  Sea Freight Advantages

For the organization’s president, it's scary because she doesn’t know where this candy is coming from, or how these people are pretending to represent the organization.

“We have no idea what these people are saying while they are out in the community, and that’s why we felt it’s important to let people know these are not Boys and Girls Club kids,” Boys and Girls Club President Teena Belcik said.

Belcik says the club would never ask its kids to do this.

The two individuals look like they could be in their older teen years to early twenties, Belcik said.

The organization received several calls from those who bought candy and also made additional donations. Belcik believes Oklahomans have big hearts, which is why they donate, but it’s going into the wrong hands.

“They see a young man or woman trying to do good and they want to help so they give, thinking they are helping our organization, but it never gets to us,” Belcik said.

The Boys and Girls Club contacted Oklahoma City Police and officers are opening an investigation.
